Letters Home

If you get Altered Arts Magazine, then you probably saw my altered book, Letters Home.  On the Altered Arts Magazine blog today, I'm sharing a closer look at some of the tiny booklets contained in Letters Home.

So, you know, maybe you might wanna go look?

Sometimes it's nice to think inside the box . . .

For the month of May, Altered Pages is teaming up with Eileen Hull's Artists On the Block to create all kinds of Artist Trading Blocks, aka ATBs.  Annie wanted to make yet another appearance.  You may recall Annie, she has a bit of an attitude . . .

She showed off her collection of tiaras (with Leaky Shed and Altered Pages),

And made her latest appearance is in the Spring 2014 Altered Arts Magazine:
Everyone knew Annie had more than one bee in her bonnet.

Apparently I find Annie particularly appealing--now she has winged things flying from her lovely head:

Annie liked to think inside the box.

The background is painted, stamped with Rogue Redhead Design's Handwriting
background in VersaMagic Turquoise Gem Ink (from Tsukineko), spritzed with a
variety of shimmery Fireworks inks (also from Tsukineko), and edged with the same
Turquoise:

The box is full up of tulle, bits of silk, and (besides Annie's head), a collection of butterflies and moths from Altered Pages.

The cascade of roses?  Made from Pink Paislee Color Wash paper using the Amazing Super Simple Paper Rose Tutorial, and spritzed with some Fireworks for a little shine.

See, sometimes it really is nice to think inside the box!  ;)

a Mother's Day tussy mussy

With coordinating lace, stamped on Gelli Plate prints:
Well, okay, it's just a peek--but it's a good peek, right?  You can see the rest at the
Something Tattered blog.  Wanna make your own tattered tussy?  Check out THIS TUTORIAL.

We already gave my mom her flowers, so this is going to be filled up with chocolates.
Don't tell, okay?  :)

a pop-up Mother's Day card. What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #257

Well, it's so small (atc size, 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches), it's more like a gift tag:

Gelli plate print backgrounds--made the lace to match, can you tell?
You can see the lace detail in the print if you look closely.
The stamps are from Something Tattered

ugh, I really don't like my lettering.  Working on that . . . fortunately, my
mother didn't mind a bit!  She was over last night, and saw her flowers, so . . .
she got her flowers (plants) a little early this year!
That's it for now, working on some other stuff too, but can't show yet, you know how
that goes.  Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday to you--see you around
Julia's Stamping Ground!

Happy May Day!

Happy May Day to you!  Did you ever surprise anyone with a basket of
flowers on May Day?

My favorite part was ringing the doorbell and running away . . .

Here is a peek at this tiny atc size card--you can see the rest right now at
the Altered Arts Magazine blog.
(It has a fun little May Day surprise inside.)

Happy May Day to you!

What's on Your Workdesk, Wednesday? A big mess. #256

Seriously, it's back to the pile-stuff-on-it stage.  But at least the floor is still clear.

So I'm just going to share with you some finished stuff, to prove I'm still alive;  it's
been forever since my last post.  We've been working on so many house projects,
it's hard to get into the art room for any good amount of play time, you know?

Here are some atcs and moos for a mail art column at Unruly Paper Arts, I'm
sending them out to people who leave comments.  I was only going to do twelve,
but I ended up making more, because that's a lot of background to use!! So . . .
Mail Art En Masse Volume II at Unruly Paper Arts
And here are some little books I made, that fit in a bigger altered book with a niche
cut inside to hold them:

And that's what's been on my workdesk lately.  This picture is weird, it's one of
those projects that seemed like a good idea at the time, but now????
See you at the Stamping Ground--thank you, Julia, for hostessing!

fairies, a please, and a thank you--What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #253

The fairies:
Oh-kay, back to working in the living room on a tray table:
working out the details with tape . . .

the daughter helping with some fussy cutting!
The please??
One of my collages is in the running for the cover of Altered Arts Magazine, but
they're having a voting thing.  Soooo, if you're a facebook kind of WOYWWer,
please go vote for "D?"  Here's the linky:  Altered Arts Magazine Cover Vote.
(THANK YOU to Julia, not only for hosting woyww, but for voting for me--I seriously
appreciate it--I was in one of those moods, so you actually made me cry!!!)
this is the collage in question
The thank you!!
If you've ever heard of Our World, Our Art, I'm participating, and giving away a
little thank-you-for-leaving-a-comment gifty.  Here's the link for that post: LINK
FOR THAT POST.  (You may recognize the gifty!)

Happy What's On Your Workdesk, everyone!  I'm having a good snoop tomorrow,
so see you soon!  (House update: got the trim pulled off in the living room, painted
walls and ceiling, and pulled up all the carpet and pad.  New trim and carpet next!)

(PS--After a few daughter comments, I want to point out that the daughter LIKES
fussy cutting!  If she comes in the room and I'm cutting out something, she'll scold me
and say, "Why didn't you save that for me, give me that!"     How great is THAT???)

Our World, Our Art Event

Have you heard of Our World, Our Art?  Once upon a time, it was One World,
One Heart--it's an international, get-to-know-your-fellow-arty-bloggers event and
gift giveaway.  Even though the event has begun, you can still join in.  Just click the
OWOA button in the sidebar for details.  And even if you don't join the linky list,
you can still participate in the get-to-know-you/giveaway part, but you do
need to be an active blogger.

So hey, everyone, if you're new to this blog, my name is Trisha, and I like making
pretty much everything.  No, seriously, pretty much everything.  Now I'm not saying
I'm particularly good at everything I try, but you know, it's the process, right?

hand made book full of tags
Lately I'm enjoying stitching up little handmade art journals.  A couple of months
ago, I sent one off to a friend, but to the wrong address!  We thought it was lost
forever, so of course I resent her a different one.  ANYWAY, over two months later,
and voila!

The little journal has found its' way home, and wants to come live with YOU.  Please
leave an e-mail address with your comment, so I can find you.  Plus, I'm always
happy to blog follow and visit you, but PLEASE make sure your blog settings are
such that I can find you.
pocket sized hand bound art journal--my OWOA gift giveaway
Happy Our World, Our Art to you, and I'll be around to visit this week!  Winner of
the gift giveaway will be announced the 19th, comments close the 18th.  Thank you
to Lisa for hosting!

UPDATE--Teresa is the winner and has been contacted via e-mail, thank you to all
who commented!

So many tiaras . . .

Just a little sneaky peek at a "Teacups and Tiaras" themed collage, inspired by the
Reader's Art Quest at Unruly Paper Arts this month:

So many tiaras . . .
Please stop by and see the rest of this collage at the Altered Pages Artsociates
blog.  The Artsociates are teaming up with the Unrulies this month, so there
should  be lots of great inspiration for everyone.  (That pretty little tiara stamp in
the background?  From Something Tattered.)
