Just Glue It, Day 3
Day Three ended up with a theme.
JGI is a personal challenge, so it's okay if you don't get the theme. It's something I probably don't need to be reminded of, however--smile and nod . . .
Short story time:
One day my Aunt June and I were having a conversation. I was young at the time, still in school, and I don't remember what we were talking about, but I do remember her reaction.
"Well, you're just like your mother. You smile and nod and do whatever you want to anyway."
My blog friend of many years, Krisha, has inspired me to join in some challenges:
A Vintage Journey--Going 'round in circles : pencil circles at borders of pages, mirroring circle on library sign
Creative Artiste--Anything Mixed Media Goes
Frilly and Funkie--New Year's Inspiration (smile and nod, and do what you want to anyway!)
Have a wonderful weekend!
:)

Just Glue It, Day 2
Yes, I named my personal challenge, "Just Glue It," but I'm sure someone else somewhere has used that one before. Not only that, we all know that at some point there WILL be paint, crayons, ink, etc. Anyway, did the layouts for the title pages today, and kept the title that came with the book.
It's a Book-Of -The-Month paper, and it's from 1941!
That's all for today. If I don't get around to posting the photos every day, I will post multiples during the week.

"Best Sellers"--I find that amusing, indeed. |
REALLY like the photo, it's an original, got it in a pile of ephemera at an estate sale.

a personal challenge--altered book layout a day
(Pre-P.S.--updated with better photos.)
Well, these photos are from my phone, which I have NOT quite gotten the hang of yet, but today I decided to try and do a layout a day in an altered book, one I began years ago, but never really worked in. No particular theme, just gluing a layout a day.
These are my great-grandmother's twin brothers, Ruben and Rupert. so my great-great uncles? I met Rupert on several occasions, but Rupen died in WWI.
Sorry the pics aren't better, but I had to screw my resolve to the sticking point, and it was either get it done or not. (I chose get it done. Lesson learned--next time use the camera I know!)
Now I'm going to see that grandbaby of mine.
Happy Thursday to you!

I like this particular bit, the tape over a piece of old movie film. |

gotta love a $3.75 flea market find!
A DIY-over of someone else's DIY blanket chest--and I got it for $3.75, what a deal!

braille gift box and pendant
Nothing super fancy, as my jewelry making skills aren't the keenest, but here is a little pendant and gift box I made for a blind friend:
I hope it reads correctly. Sheesh, braille is hard! Want more details? You'll find them today at Altered Pages.

an altered baseball card box
Believe it or not, baseball cards originally came in this box.
One pack.
Of very expensive baseball cards.
It's a really nice box--wooden, with hinges--AND since we have a baseball card store, I like to keep some of the fun stuff and repurpose them for other things. Today's redo started with some DecoArt Americana Chalky Finish paint in Refreshing and a Creme Wax finish:
A tea related collage image, and . . .

A tea related collage image, and . . .
Voila! A "tea chest". This will be used at an upcoming baby shower for, well, teabags, of course. There's another quote on the inside of the lid. I like to think of it as a functional decoration. You can find more details at Altered Pages.
