Jedi mind tricks--What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #247

Just a peek, as this is part of a design team project--the daughter, who does my
fussy cutting, swears these girls look like young Jedis working up a mind trick:
Rogue Redhead Girls from Christmas Cheer set
It got cold again here, so I kind of quit tidying the art room.  HOWEVER, the "big
shelf" (also known as the FLOOR) is cleared up, and the desk has had a few layers
excavated:
So, What's on Your Workdesk this week?

the stamped silk quilty and little journal--What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #246

Hiya, WOYWWers!  Did you have a Happy Valentine's Day?
Well I can finally show you--the silk mini quilt I showed a piece of a few weeks ago?
You can see the whole thing HERE, along with a short history of collectable
"silks" from the early 1900s.  Of course you can always just look at the pics and
skip the history!  Those of you who are actually good at quilting will be appalled
at it, but I thoroughly enjoyed making this little embellished quilty.

And here is the finished hand stitched journal:
You can see more pics HERE
It's the one I was tearing that paper for--the suede cover is from a repurposed
1980s mini skirt.

By the way, it's sunny and can-you-believe-it-warm here today.  I hope to see you
soon, and be sure to tell the wonderful Julia thank you for the party!

PS--I started sorting out the art room today, so next week, there may be a pic of
the real desk, not the tray table in the living room!

clean and simple with Something Tattered stamps
Does that red look crazy bright on your computer, too?
If you'd like to see some beautiful Valentine projects that are definitely NOT
clean and simple--more along the lush and beautifully embellished line--the
design team for Something Tattered has made some Valentine's Day goodies
for us.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

tiny books and Valentines--What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #245

Finished the 4x4 inch journal from last week, but can't show it yet--
it's on it's way to my friend Julie, and I want it to be a surprise.  BUT
the tiny books, I finished binding one and giving it a cover; three others
are waiting for a cover of some sort:
The needle felted heart atc from two weeks ago is no longer just a peek,
it's my latest column at Unruly Paper Arts, HERE.  Hopefully Peggy will
find it in her mailbox soon!

And we're having the family for a Valentine dinner Friday--here's my fireplace,
just did this today:
If I'd been more ambitious, I would have lit the candles in the fireplace
for you . . . see you soon, fellow woywwers!  Thanks as always to the
Julia!

heartFELT revisited . . .

It's February, and time for hearty things in the latest issue of the Unruly Paper Arts blogozine.  My column this month--it's up TODAY, please stop by for a look!-- features an easy needle felted atc--thus the heartFELT (you know I can't resist the occasional pun).  Here is a look--this atc is on its way across the ocean to a bloggy friend, I hope she likes it:
you can see the full atc at Unruly Paper Arts

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.  Proverbs 4:23

I've actually made similar atcs before, and inchies, too--here is one from several years ago:
(here's the blog post)
Oh wow.  Now I want to make inchies again!!!  That is one tiny heart . . .

little books, new stamp, and snow--What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #244

Okay, no, there's no snow actually ON the workdesk--but plenty in the backyard,
about a foot of new snow, very pretty:

On the desk--papers for two books, one 4x4 inchish, the other much smaller:
And a new Rogue stamp from (yes, seriously) the Winter Women plate:
I'm kind of proud to have gotten the glitter showing in the photo!
One more snow pic--this one of the birds, we feed them on our deck:
We line the railing with seed, and when it's this cold, there are generally 20 to 50
birds eating at a time.  That's it for me--see you at the WOYWW party!
(Thank you, Julia!)

Valentines & spring are singing to me . . .

Oh-kay, I've been elbow deep in paints and papers and inky stuff, thinking about Valentine's Day and dreaming of spring:
collage image from Altered Pages
For the Altered Arts Magazine blog, a mixed media collage--I am SO enjoying my new stamps from Something Tattered:  the one here is a partial of the Boudoir Antique Brocade Wallpaper.  C'mon, even the NAME is awesome--Boudoir Antique Brocade.  Does it get any better than that??

And a card--yes, I really did make a card--for the Altered Pages Artsociates blog, here is just a corner, showing another one of my favorite new stamps, that bird's nest:

oooh, you can see the metallic crayon, too!  :)
(More details and photos are, of course, on the aforementioned blogs.)

Thank you for stopping by today;  I always appreciate your visits.  Have a wonderful weekend!
