the stamped silk quilty and little journal--What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #246

Hiya, WOYWWers!  Did you have a Happy Valentine's Day?
Well I can finally show you--the silk mini quilt I showed a piece of a few weeks ago?
You can see the whole thing HERE, along with a short history of collectable
"silks" from the early 1900s.  Of course you can always just look at the pics and
skip the history!  Those of you who are actually good at quilting will be appalled
at it, but I thoroughly enjoyed making this little embellished quilty.

And here is the finished hand stitched journal:
You can see more pics HERE
It's the one I was tearing that paper for--the suede cover is from a repurposed
1980s mini skirt.

By the way, it's sunny and can-you-believe-it-warm here today.  I hope to see you
soon, and be sure to tell the wonderful Julia thank you for the party!

PS--I started sorting out the art room today, so next week, there may be a pic of
the real desk, not the tray table in the living room!

LOVE that quilt. You are a far better seamstress than I will ever be. I don't quilt, I make art (grin).

I spent my day enjoying the beauty of warmth for the first time in nearly a month. Snow may be melted away by tomorrow, just in time for more bad weather. Happy WOYWW from # 3.

It's was my MIL 88th birthday so we had a little party for her!
I love that you used an old mini shirt for the journal!

Hey Trisha!
Thanks for the earlier visit.

Love your little quilty, perfect little sampler of old fabrics.

Your journal is awesome, of course. (grin)

Your comment on my age is funny. I'm only old on the outside, on the inside I float at about 21, (just so I remember I am of legal drinking age) Here lays the confusion. Yes? LOL

Have a great creative week!

The mini quilt is fabulous with all its intricate beading and flowers. It is very, very lovely. The journal is pretty nifty too. I love that overly large button. I had to giggle that it is from a repurposed suede skirt. That's a good use for it. Judy 93

It's "only" $2250 without all the fabulous compartments in the drawers.

You know, mad money.

But you can't get one. I'd have rolltop desk envy. Bad. I might have it anyway.

Gorgeous mini quilty! Fab job with it. And the book...OMG! A suede mini skirt, really?! Love it. I'll be popping by in March to see what you all get up to in the altered book arena. Since I'm not making/selling cards might as well try something new, right! Hugs

Hey I think your project is perfect and the sewing no faults, but I can't sew to save my life. Such a beautiful creation, I would be very proud. Can't wait to see the craft room next week. Sorry I am getting around so late this week we got flooded out at work and no internet, so frustrating.
