What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #191--new stamps and backround papers!

Well, okay, it's Thursday AGAIN--if I didn't have to go places, or share
the computer with five other people, I might actually get my posts done
when they're supposed to be done!

Some new stamps, ready to put on cling foam--
Behind the Scenes plate from Rogue Redhead Designs
You may know I REALLY like making backgrounds, so these stamps,
oh yes, they will be put to good use.  Here's what else is on my workdesk,
and I'm thinking these will get a good stamping soon--
the top is accidental background paper, the others were on purpose!
So I'll be around later today, will at least stop by everyone who dropped in
to say hi last round, or comments this time.  If you'd like to join in the desk
snoop, you can go see the lovely Julia, who hosts the fun each week.

do you save your accidental paper?

You know, those papers you use to protect your work surface while
you spray inks or paints or whatever?  They make some of the best
"accidental" backgrounds for other things!

I used some accidental paper for this birthday card--it's for a teenage
boy, and I think he'll like it:
all these stamps are from Victorian Invention
Here's the inside--I added some spritz to it, as well:
the sentiments are from Verses, Full Sheet
Here is a pic of the back, it shows the shimmer, which is also on the front
of the card, but you know how hard it is to capture shine in a photo!

How about a few challenges?
Allsorts--masculine
My Time to Craft--things with wings
Pattie's Creations--use something recycled (the "accidental" paper!)
CCEE Challenges--masculine time/clock reference

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, 190--snow dancers

Sure, yes, it's Thursday, but fortunately, dear Ms. Dunnit is very gracious.
(In case you aren't familiar with WOYWW, check out this link.)

So here's my workdesk today:
It's my lap.  Had to go with the guys to our shop, but brought my
go-box of stuff.  See the feathers?  They were for these fine ladies--
images from Altered Pages
They're actually stick puppets, I dunno, it seemed right for the Snow Dancer
challenge at the Altered Pages blog.  And the "sticks," they're leftover
background pieces (collage on chipboard), you can see more of the shimmery
blueness of it if you scroll down a post.

Happy WOYWW, albeit a day late--there are 164 people this week! What do
you think?  Can I make it through the list?

a shiny bookmark and a Valentine atc . . .

First, let me show you the shimmer:
nice and frosty looking, right?

Now tell me, do you like curling up with a good book on a cold winter day?
(She's from the Relish Reading set at Rogue Redhead Designs)
This young lady does, but she tried to carry too many books, and now
they're all blowing out of her hands!

And here is a little atc Valentine--

I have to tell you, it feels good to be making stuff again . . .
So maybe a few challenges:
with the shimmery blue bookmark:
Rogue Redhead Designs--Winter Blues
Stampotique--challenge 83, New Year's Resolution (read more!)
Drunken Stampers Challenge--all that glitters
Crafty Catz--anything but a card
Dillybeans--bookmark!
It's All About the Vintage--winter feelings

with the atc sized Valentine card:
Frilly and Funkie--follow your muse.  (First time for an atc with a pin full
of charmish stuff attached, and the first atc I made that opens from bottom
to top, if that makes sense!)
Allsorts--flower power
ATCS and cards with attitude--add a tag or sentiment/anything goes
Sparkle and Glitter--anything but a square
Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge--embellish it

a Valentine atc and magazine cover

It's hard to believe it's almost Valentine's time--I'm getting a head start
this year with an atc for Altered Arts Magazine:
collage image from Altered Pages
It's regular atc size, but opens as a greeting card--it reminds me of the tiny
Valentines we used to give each other when we were children.

Plus, the new issue of Altered Arts is out to subscribers--not sure if you can
get it otherwise yet, but here is the cover:

All those candle holders on the cover are mine, so that's pretty fun--
Thank you, Altered Arts!

(As many of you know, my father died about a week and a half before
Christmas, so I haven't been doing too much on the intraweb lately.
Been getting back into the swing of things, so I hope to be by to visit
with all my bloggy friends, and catch up with some posting, as well.)

See you soon!

3D-ish stamped ephemera butterflies

You've probably seen something similar to these, or made them yourself--
I think they'd be sweet in houseplants, or even around photographs?
Here's a quick how-to:

First, stamp your desired image (I used the Painted Butterflies set, from
Blockheads).  Stack several layers of papers together--I used three--and
fussy cut the image and layers.

Clamp the layers together with a clothespin--not absolutely necessary, but it
makes the gluing easier.
On the back layer, add a thin bead of glue (I used Super Tacky) and nestle in
a piece of wire.  Sandwich the other layers on top, repeating the glue on each
layer.

That's it.  Super easy, right?
This one got some shimmery paints--I think he's destined for the front of a card.
You can add antennae, too, by the way, using that same glue sandwich technique.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
