a bit of sewing, a painting, and Alice--What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday #280

Just so you woywwers know, I do possess basic sewing skills--here is a car seat canopy I finished for a baby shower, it turned out pretty well, and the blingy button accents are fun, right?  They are removable for laundering, and the backside is super soft minky, as the canopy can double as a blanket.

This is my painting for my column today at Unruly Paper Arts--Painted Imperfection.  There is a link at the end of the column to a youtube video, Everyday Is A Good Day When You Paint--if you haven't seen it, and you like Bob Ross, you'll enjoy it.  Even if you don't know who Bob Ross is, if you like painting, you'll like it!

Here's the current desk.  Alice is on hold for a few days, poor girl, too much going on.  The pink book is one of my favorites, I'm leading a study using it.  The small atlas loses pages now and again;  there are currently some in the altered Alice book.
That's it today for me, I hope to have another layout or two finished and ready to share next week.  I'll be around to visit you sometime in the next few days--my visits don't always coincide with the Wednesday, but you know how that goes, right?

Happy What's on Your Workdesk!  Be sure to leave Julia a comment and tell her thank you for the party!

Seems I rarely touch my sewing machines (2 - one standard, one serger) unless I need to do some mending. Good study books. Our church ladies group is currently doing a study on Deuteronomy through Beth Moore. Happy WOYWW! God bless!

Love your painting. I like to play with painting and Gelli prints, too. :)
We had Bible study today and we are studying Lutzers "Cries from the Cross" a study of the last words of Christ from the cross. Happy WOYWW! #73

Basic sewing skills, my erm, arm...it takes more than that to make such a fab gift. You're just all around clever, huh! Love the piece of the painting you've showed us...want a bigger reveal soon, please!

I deduce from the picture that you're using the Tenniel illustrations from Alice on a project? What a great idea. The car seat cover looks lovely. Happy WOYWW! ~ Laura #63

great looking desks and projects. My son and his wife are expecting their third in a couple weeks. I might have to look into a cover for him cause he follows two girls so I can't have him sitting in a girly seat! Thanks for sharing and have a great week. I am a little late getting started this week so decided to start at the bottom of the list and work my way back to #1. Vickie @76

There is no way you could sew that with basic sewing skills, you have to know what you are doing and I don't even posses basic skills. It does look good though and nice colour too. Also a sneak peek at your canvas, that's not fair. Have a wonderful week.

I pretty much stopped sewing when the Army broke my machine, and stopped needle crafts when I discovered stamping, lol! Looks like you have kept up with everything - bravo!

Happy Crafting!

Haven't heard the name Bob Ross in ages, love to watch him paint!!!

If all you have is basic sewing skills....then you're showing off...LOL That canopy is gorgeous and really great gift idea. I own 4 sewing machines and 1 serger.....can you believe that??

Great works going on in your space. Always so much fun to drop by and see what you're doing, never disappointed.

Have a great week, after our weekend trip I'll be "DUSTING" the house AGAIN!!!
Thanks for visiting me tis week

Clever you to do that car seat cover! It looks great!
That book... I've seen it but I haven't got it. It must be good if you're doing a study on it.
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder,
Have a good week

Oh my ---- a new lady for me to admire. Sewing is NOT one of my strengths, so I can't help but be in awe of someone who possesses that talent. Yes, the car seat is fabulous. Love the embellies --- too cute. My grandaughters would think they were very special if they were the lucky recipients of those car seats. Thanks for your visit and thanks for having me visit your craft space. Happy belated WOYWW.

The car seat canopy is a good idea, but I agree that it must take more than basic sewing skills! I can't wait to get my sewing machine going but am determined to finish my mini-album before I launch into sewing.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Thank you for your visit to my desk. I'm admiring the car seat canopy and I think that took a little more than basic sewing skills. Thanks for the peek at your desk.
