What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday, #176

Well, I was gone again last week, this time on business in Nashville, TN,
and then for a few days of goofing off with the husband in Branson, MO.

Here's what's on my workdesk right now--part of a tag for Rogue Redhead
Designs (don't worry, Shar, I'll have it ready for tomorrow):

I need to add some dots to it, since the challenge this round is going dotty . . .
and I have to say, that pretty much describes me today!

By the way, on our way to Branson, we stopped at the Laura Ingalls Wilder
Museum and home.  Are you familiar with Laura?  Little House on the Prairie
and all?  Some of my favorite childhood books.  There were lots of things in
the museum that were in her books, so it was very exciting--yes, I was so
excited I cried!  Here are a couple pics of the outside:

That's it, gotta go to viola lesson, and I haven't practiced for over a week, don't
tell.  Will be around to WOYWW visit this evening--see you then!
(If you've never WOYWWed, just click the link to see what Julia hosts each week.)

P.S.--the finished tag is now up HERE.

Ooo, I didn't know you were taking viola lessons? How cool!

I'm sure your tag is going to be fabulous...everything you make always is over the top awesome :)

I read some of those books when I was a kid and the tv show was a big hit in our house in the 70's! Love the desk, sounds like you need to get busy and stop blog hopping!! And viola lessons, that's something you don't here of every day, are you a beginner, or doing better than that? I used to play the recorder at school but never went any further than that!! There's still two bits of cakes left!!

Hello!

I hope that you had a productive and fun viola lesson! I read all of the Laura books when I was young - watched the TV program. My mother loved to visit Branson to see the wonderful shows. Wishing you a sunshine day!

Yeesh, ya make it sound like I nag you...I don't do, I?

I am totally envious of your visit to Laura Ingalls house. Too cool!

Glad you had fun! I like Laura Ingalls Wilder too! So much so that I had to write her bio on my history blog -- see here
http://the-history-nut-of-missouri.blogspot.com/2010/06/laura-elizabeth-bess-ingalls-wilder.html
I think we took a picture of the front of her house standing in the same place, except I got the tour guide on the front porch! Did you go see the Shepherd of the Hills while in Branson? I've got a bio on Harold Bell Wright also on my history blog!

You NEVER nag, Shar, never not once!! I just hate being late, ugh, and try to be early with the deadlines, but usually just get them a day early.

Which is better than a day late!

I linked the finished tag above . . .

Sooo coool!!!! I love her books! As to the question you asked about the techniques and the back of the card, I replied on my blog but I don't know who sees that lol! In any case the intent is there I just haven't done that. Maybe now that all the cards are done I will...oh who am I kidding!

We've been to the Shepherd of the Hills thing before, but not this round. We go to Branson fairly often, the DH likes it for a get-away. Not too far from home, you know?

I'm green with envy that you got to visit such a brilliant place. I love LIW and read all her books as a child and have just passed them onto my 11 year old and she has read them cover to cover too and loves them just as I did. I never knew there was a museum. Maybe one day we'll get to visit.
Happy WOYWW

Trisha--I can't believe you were in Branson! I don't know that I've ever been that close in vicinity to one of the WOYWWers! I wish I had a crafty group here in Springfield--I need to start recruiting these girls. (Your desk looks quite productive by the way!) Also, the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum is one of my favorites! It's about an hour's drive for me--and I'm overdue for another visit. In a few weeks my family is going to the Christmas show at Dixie Stampede--I am looking forward to it, and the dinner is so good! And we're going to do the cheesy family photo thing too. Just weird to not be able to eat with utensils! Crafty hugs! --Sandy Leigh #11

Hi Trisha!!
I looked for you yesterday, but you weren't there!! I see you joined later. Your tag is awesome, and how cool to go to the Little House On The Prairie museum!! I loved reading the books too!!
I have to figure out where, or who, you work for. Like the blogs, or sites, etc. Cause I love your work!! And I was super stoked to see the mono type tutorial! I have been trying to remember how to do that for like ever!
My articles are often based on things I remember from school. Like grade school and high school.
And you look so cute in that smart trench coat!!!
Sorry so long :(

I wondered where you were, I missed you. How lovely to go to Laura's museum. When my kids were small we watched the tv programmes and sat crying our eyes out lol. Must go and see your tag now.
Take care.

How fun, Trisha! We did miss you, but I gotta say a trip to Nashville and Branson and Ms. Wilder all in one is hard to top, so who could blame you!!

I'm still WOYWWing my way around ... have a wonderful week! Darnell #35

Tag is looking good, probably well and trully finished by now. Laura Wilder is one of my childhood favourite authors too. What a blessing to be able to visit her house. Isn't it great how history is being preserved. I had to look at a map to work out where you were, being and Aussie I dont know your state abbreviations. I so wantt o come a visit and travel al over maybe next year.

Ooh! I would love to visit Laura's house and museum. I almost bought Nellie Olson's biography today (the gal that played her on TV) but it was hardback and wouldn't be as cool as the real books with the real Nellie in them. I love Little House on the Prairie, etc. I reread the books a few years back and still love them, so color me jealous over your trip.

I was wondering what you do with the crayons on your desk? My guess it some kind of wax resist.... or getting in touch with your inner kindergartener.

There are ALWAYS crayons on my desk--I mainly use them for distressing edges, actually, but watercolor resist is a favorite.

:)

trisha too said...

I just figured that was the touristy small music town you were speaking of--how funny is that?

:)

trisha too said...

Mostly distress edges, and add color around stamped or collaged images.
