Just Glue It, Days 15 & 16: Butcher-Bird

ephemera, metallic crayon, pencil.  In the photos, it kind of looks like a light coat of paint over the text, but it was actually pulled off with tape--the same way as HERE.  I prefer the packing tape, it's easier to take off larger sections, and adjust the amount of text taken off by the amount of pressure put on the surface of the tape.

Just Glue It, Day 14: vintage alphabet stamps

One of my NOT accidental collections is vintage alphabet stamps.  I don't use them very often, but they make me happy.
Taping the letter stamps together makes them easier to use.

Yep, I pulled the text off the original book pages, using the same tape technique as THIS POST.

Just Glue It, Day 13

Lunch Special:
And the print is on deli paper--c'mon, that's a little funny, right?  It's true, I'm a bit too enamored with the background, and couldn't bring myself to just glue much on top of it.

easy DIY travel/adventure themed baby shower decorations

As you probably know, we had the privilege of becoming grandparents this year.  As you can imagine, I had some fun with the preparations--gender reveal party decorations, and of course the baby shower.
What I didn't realize was that many of the baby shower decorations would later become nursery decorations, so that made all the prep DOUBLE worth it!

You can find photos, some of the shower and some of the nursery, in my posts today at   DIY Design Studio.  (There are two, just sayin'.)

Just Glue It, Day 12--"washi" tape and Gelli deli

Didn't finish a layout today, but prepped one by removing text, and adding a Gelli print on deli paper.  Pulling the text print off the book pages is kind of fun, plus the leftover tape can be used in other projects--kind of like washi tape.

And pulling Gelli plate prints on deli paper, that's always fun!  I like how the prints seem to meld into where they're glued.

DIY "washi" type tape

You can take off as much or as little text as you like, depending on how hard you burnish the tape before removing it.

my first altered book layout? Do YOU stay inside the lines?

Well, it's been 11 straight days I've been working in the Just Glue It book.  Yesterday I was doing more prep stuff--ripping, cutting, gluing together pages--but I didn't finish a layout.  So, today, I'm posting what I believe to be the first altered book layout I ever did.  At the time, I pretty much just opened the book, did this layout, and put it on a shelf for who-knows-how-many years!

(I still don't stay inside the lines.)

This is the same book I'm filling with the JGI layouts.

Just Glue It, Day 9 Basketball or butterflies?

Actual conversation:

"Basketball or butterflies?  Why can't I like both?"

"You can.  But which do you like better?"

"It depends on the situation.  If you're throwing it, basketballs always hit me in the head, so definitely butterflies."

Just Glue It, Day 3

Day Three ended up with a theme.

JGI is a personal challenge, so it's okay if you don't get the theme.  It's something I probably don't need to be reminded of, however--smile and nod . . .

Short story time:
One day my Aunt June and I were having a conversation.  I was young at the time, still in school, and I don't remember what we were talking about, but I do remember her reaction.

"Well, you're just like your mother.  You smile and nod and do whatever you want to anyway."

My blog friend of many years, Krisha, has inspired me to join in some challenges:
A Vintage Journey--Going 'round in circles :  pencil circles at borders of pages, mirroring circle on library sign
Creative Artiste--Anything Mixed Media Goes
Frilly and Funkie--New Year's Inspiration (smile and nod, and do what you want to anyway!)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just Glue It, Day 2

Yes, I named my personal challenge, "Just Glue It," but I'm sure someone else somewhere has used that one before.  Not only that, we all know that at some point there WILL be paint, crayons, ink, etc.  Anyway, did the layouts for the title pages today, and kept the title that came with the book.
"Best Sellers"--I find that amusing, indeed.
REALLY like the photo, it's an original, got it in a pile of ephemera at an estate sale.

It's a Book-Of -The-Month paper, and it's from 1941!

That's all for today.  If I don't get around to posting the photos every day, I will post multiples during the week.
